If you're not in school but want to be...
Visit Tofield School's Northstar Program, an alternative learning program for 16 to 20 year-olds who are not presently attending school, but want to get on with their education.
What Northstar Program Offers
- One-to-one tutorial instruction
- Academic subjects and option courses for high school credit
- Flexible time schedule
- A chance to design your own program
- Credits for work experience and special projects
- The opportunity to start school any time in the school year
How does it work?
- Students set up their own program and are involved in regular goal setting
- Course activities and learning packages are set up so students can work at an individually determined pace
- Students work independently at a safe, comfortable environment
- Students earn credits toward their high school diploma
| Program Length |
The Northstar Program follows the regular school calendar, starting late August and wrapping up at the end of June. Students may enter the program any time during the school year. |
| Staff |
The program is staffed by a certified teacher. |
| Cost |
Students are charged a textbook rental fee. A deposit may be requested for special materials. |
| Safety |
The Northstar Program is in a safe and comfortable place for all students. |
| Location |
The facility located in the newly-renovated west end of the Arena (formerly the Museum and Craft Room) 50 Avenue and 48 Street. |
