A Season in Bloom: CIB 2009 Activities

The Town of Tofield is once again getting set to participate in the Communities in Bloom program this year.

Tofield is registered for 2009 in the "Friends" or non-competitive category. This means that Tofield will retain its status as a CIB community, however there will be no evaluation of the town this year.

Tofield has been involved in the Communities in Bloom program since 2001. The town has seen many benefits from participation, and this has influenced the decision to remain with the program, even if in the Friends category. It's about more than competing -- it's about what a great community Tofield is!

Beautifying Tofield Begins at your Front Door

Here are some suggestions for how you can get participate:

Residential/Commercial Checklist

• Edge and fertilize your lawn
• Plant flowers in the ground or in baskets or planters -- lots of colours
• Help with maintenance of planters close to your business
• Remove weeds from flower beds, cracks in sidewalks and driveways
• Deadhead your flowers
• Start a compost -- we have demos available
• Prune your trees and shrubs
• Remove any litter and/or large debris from your yard or business
• Put up a bird house (available at the Nature Centre)
• Support the Communities in Bloom project by purchasing a Quilt Raffle Ticket.
